German heavy weights, Bayern Munich have finally agreed a new five-year partnership with Visit Rwanda, a move which is aimed at boosting tourism prospects in the East African country.
Africa Today News, New York gathered that the partnership will see the Bundesliga club work with Rwanda’s Ministry of Sports to set up a football academy and strengthen the development of football in the country.
As part of the deal, Bayern will display ‘Visit Rwanda’ branding on the LED boards during matchdays at the Allianz Arena. Different activities will also be organised to promote tourism and investment opportunities in the country.
This partnership follows President Paul Kagame’s suggestion of Rwanda exploring further affiliations with major football clubs, marking the nation’s third such deal alongside the Premier League’s Arsenal and French Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The announcement, made during FC Bayern’s inaugural home game of the season on Sunday, signifies a multifaceted relationship that includes a commitment from the club to work closely with Rwanda’s Ministry of Sports in establishing a football academy. The primary objective of this academy is to enhance the development of football within the country.
Moreover, Visit Rwanda branding will prominently feature on match-day LED boards at the club’s 75,000-seater Allianz Arena. Various initiatives and activities will be organized to promote tourism and investment opportunities in Rwanda.
In another report, the regional Presidents of the Spanish football federation’s have finally asked suspended chief Luis Rubiales to resign following the controversies that has been stirred up after he forcibly kissed Women’s World Cup player Jenni Hermoso on the lips, sparking worldwide outrage.
In a statement which came following a meeting between the regional Presidents; the federation (RFEF) said; ‘After recent events and the unacceptable behaviour that has seriously damaged the image of Spanish football, the presidents request that Luis Rubiales resign immediately as president of the RFEF’.
The Presidents said they backed interim chief Pedro Rocha, who called the meeting, to lead the organisation into ‘dialogue and reconciliation with all football institutions’.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the RFEF statement also urged an overhaul in the federation’s management.
