Airforce Chief Meets Foreign Attachés, Seeks Collaboration

Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, as the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), has declared that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is fully committed to strengthening its relationships and fostering deeper defense alliances with allied nations.

In his statement, it was highlighted that the NAF is ready to collaborate with friendly military forces worldwide in matters of defense and security. Furthermore, they are willing and prepared to offer similar assistance to allied partners in areas where Nigeria’s defense interests align.

While presiding over a meeting of Defense Attachés representing accredited allied countries in Nigeria, the CAS put forth this statement.

Moreover, the CAS pointed out that the meeting held immense significance, underscoring the indispensable contribution of military forces in maintaining peace and stability in the present-day world, marked by a progressively precarious global security landscape.

Continuing his discourse, Air Marshal Abubakar underlined that the NAF’s involvement in addressing security challenges alongside other security services requires the continuous development and maintenance of a wide array of effective air power capabilities.

These capabilities, he stated, frequently result from innovations and technological advancements on a global scale, underscoring the importance of robust alliances overseen by Defense Attachés.

He proceeded by urging the Defense Attachés to advocate for the defense interests of their respective countries in conjunction with the NAF’s aspirations. He stated that this alignment would facilitate the maintenance of a mutually beneficial and collaborative relationship with the NAF.

Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, extended his gratitude to the CAS in his remarks for convening the meeting with Defense Attachés. He emphasised that the meeting would undeniably strengthen the crucial symbiotic relationship required to combat contemporary global security challenges effectively.

Therefore, he encouraged the Defense Attachés to make the most of the forum’s opportunity to seek clarifications and dispel any doubts they may harbor, paving the way for a more robust inter-military partnership with the NAF.

Colonel Roni Singh Legha, the longest-serving foreign Defense Attaché in Nigeria and India’s Defense Attaché, also addressed the gathering. He voiced his satisfaction with the meeting and the opportunity to further the existing relationships between their respective nations and the NAF. He then gave his assurance to the CAS of their full cooperation in achieving the NAF’s goal of deepening cooperation.

The event brought together 31 Defense Attachés representing allied nations with a presence in Nigeria. Among the countries present were India, Germany, Cameroon, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt, South Africa, and several others. Notable aspects of the gathering included a thorough interactive session and the exchange of tokens of appreciation.
