PDP Governors Thank Tinubu For Appointing Wike FCT Minister

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing the ex-governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the PDP Governors Forum had on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the FCT Minister against the backdrop of the recent political crisis rocking the Rivers State Government House.

The chairman of the forum and former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, who spoke after the meeting, hailed Tinubu for appointing Wike despite being in the opposition.

According to him, ‘At the risk of being accused of flattery, we really appreciate Mr President and Nyesom Wike. Again, giving him this office at the FCT, which is like a state, in spite of the fact that he is still one of us as a PDP member, has shown the kind of leadership that Mr President has.’

Africa Today News, New York reports that the President had on Tuesday, met with the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Tinubu met with the two politicians behind closed doors at the Aso Villa in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State disclosed this after the Nigeria Police Council meeting held at the Villa.

According to him, the President intervened in the political and security situation unfolding in Rivers State.

The meeting of the President with the two politicians who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) followed the impeachment proceedings launched against Fubara by the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday.

The governor is accused of acts of gross misconduct unbecoming of his office.

The Assembly Complex was turned to a confusion theatre after fire gutted a section on Sunday night and the attendant drama that occurred on Monday morning with the removal of principal officers in the Assembly as gunshots rent the air.
