Super Eagles ‘NFF Treated Me Like Rag’ – Vincent Enyeama

Former goalkeeper of the Super Eagles, Vincent Enyeama has finally broken silence about his rumoured strained relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that led to his abrupt exit from the national team.

The 41-year-old lamented that the Nigerian football governing body treated him like a ‘piece of used material.’

In a recent interview with Hot Sports NG, when asked if he thinks his unexpected exit contributed to the sharp drop in the Super Eagles goalkeeping department, Enyeama said: ‘Sincerely, I’ve not been following Nigerian football right from the day I left [resigned from the national team]. And with due respect, I was treated like a piece of used material.

‘So I put up a block between me and the national team. It’s now that I’m beginning to follow what is going on. But I really put a stop to watching football, the national team. I was deeply hurt. But now I’ve moved. I can’t really say much about the national team and the goalkeeping because I’m not watching them.’

Africa Today News, New York recalls that Enyeama resigned from the national team in October 2015 after reportedly falling out with some of the country’s top football officials.

In another report, a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Nse Essien has revealed that the federation cannot afford to financial resources to pay the Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro his compensatory fees if he were to be relieved of his job.

Africa Today News, New York reports that lately, the Portuguese coach has been under intense pressure of late after his side played out consecutive draws against Lesotho on Thursday and Zimbabwe in their Group C, World Cup qualifiers a few days later.

Many Nigerian football fans had expectations that the Super Eagles would almost waltz through the group, however, the teams ranked, 151st and 125th took the lead in their encounter before a late rally from the 40th-ranked nation.
