Buhari Was Never In Charge Of His Govt – Senator Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume who is the Senator representing Borno South, has claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari was never in charge of his government during the eight years he spent in Aso Rock.

He said the ex-President played a lesser supervisory role, unlike the President Bola Tinubu.

Buhari was elected President of Nigeria in 2015 and he led for eight years, handing over to his partyman, Tinubu in 2023.

During the period of Buhari’s eight years, especially in his second tenure, most Nigerians shared the opinion that he was never there.

Ndume, who appeared on a Channels Television’s Politics Today which was monitored by Africa Today News, New York, stressed that some kleptocrats were in the immediate past administration.

‘The President here is in charge. He takes charge, unlike our former President. That President will just give you an assignment, he will not look over you,’ Ndume said.

‘That is where the problem is and he (Buhari) knows that. That was the mistake President Buhari made.

‘He ended up confessing these days that he had more kleptocrats in his government than people that has more interest at heart.’

In another report, Ndume had recently called on President Bola Tinubu to consider sign an executive order on unexplained wealth.

Africa Today News, New York recalls that Ndume, who is of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made the call recently in the wake of a comment by retired Supreme Court Justice Musa Muhammad Dattijo over the level of corruption in the country’s judiciary.

While stressing that there are laws in the UK and other parts of the world to tackle such issues, the lawmaker pointed out that he attempted to introduce some bills in that regard a few weeks ago.
