EPL Real Reason Arsenal Lost To Fulham, Arteta Opens Up

Arsenal Coach, Mikel Arteta has provided explanations as to why his team was defeated 2-1 by Fulham in last night’s Premier League tie which became their first back-to- back loss this season. 

Africa Today News, New York reports that two goals from Raul Jiménez and Bobby De Cordova-Reid were enough to gift Fulham the victory over Arsenal at home.

Bukayo Saka did score for the visitors against Fulham.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Arteta said the Gunners were not good enough against the host.

“We weren’t good enough. We didn’t have enough rhythm threat. Defensively, we were second best,” Arteta said.

He added: “Painful and a sad day. That’s how I would sum it up. We had the chance to be top of the table after 20 games. Three days ago, we lost a game that we deserved to win; today was a different story.”

The result leaves Arsenal in fourth position on the Premier League table, behind Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Liverpool.

Meanwhile, former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh has praised the maturity of Super Eagles stars Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi during Fulham’s Premier League 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Oliseh said both Bassey and Iwobi played decisive roles in Fulham’s home victory over the Gunners.

Goals from Raul Jiménez and Bobby De Cordova-Reid ensured Fulham defeated Mikel Arteta’s side.

Bukayo Saka did score a goal for Arsenal during the encounter.

In a tweet via his X account after the game which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York Oliseh wrote: “Extremely impressed by the maturity and discipline put up Versus Arsenal by Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi as they played decisive roles in Fulham’s victory over a seemingly mentally tired Arsenal. Encouraging for the AFCON. Una do well!”
