‘Every Day, I Pray To Win Grammy’ – Davido

Nigerian afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has revealed that his daily prayer is to win the Grammy nothing that it will be very fulfilling if he wins it. 

Africa Today News, New York recalls that Davido was last year nominated in three categories at the 20224 Grammys.

His fourth studio album, ‘Timeless,’ was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category, while ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Feel’ were nominated in the Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance categories, respectively.

Speaking in a recent interview with GQ, Davido said his prayer is to win the awards.

He said: “Everybody knows what one of my prayer points is now. I have been nominated for three Grammys. So, everybody knows what I am praying for every day I wake up.”

Davido will contest with his compatriot, Burna Boy, alongside Arooj Aftab, Silvana Estrada, Béla Fleck, Falu and Gaurav Shah for the Best Global Music Performance gong.

He would also lock horns with Burna Boy, Susana Baca, Shakti, and Bokante in the Best Global Music Album category.

In the Best African Music Performance category, he will face off with familiar names: Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy and South Africa’s Tyla.

Recall that a fortnight ago, Davido had shared interesting hints on his plans for retirement from music in the ever competitive industry.

The singer made the revelation in a video of his interview shared on Instagram by popular blogger, Tunde Ednut which was obtained by Africa Today News, New York.

Speaking about his greatest fear in his career, Davido stated that he does not want to get to a phase when people no longer go wild for his music.

While noting that everybody goes through different phases in their career, he vowed to retire from the music industry before he turns sour.
