In his remarks on Tuesday, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State pinpointed entrepreneurship and skill acquisition as essential drivers for creating wealth in a country struggling with unemployment and economic adversities.
Oborevwori made this statement during a meeting at the Government House, Asaba, where he welcomed the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Alao Olusegun, and his team.
During his acknowledgment of the NYSC’s role in the state’s progress, Oborevweri pledged that the state government would carefully consider all requests put forward by the State Coordinator and explore opportunities to offer assistance.
He said, “I want to assure you that in Delta State, one of our agendas is to ensure peace and security and I can assure you that we will continue to sustain that peace which we have enjoyed in the last nine months of this administration.

“When we have our entrepreneurship programmes we will also invite you to add value because entrepreneurship is very key to wealth creation.
“I say this because when they finish as graduates and there are no jobs, it is the skill they can acquire that will keep them going pending when they get a suitable job.
“It is not easy now to get white collar jobs so entrepreneurship is very key to the survival of our youths.”
Earlier, Mr. Olusegun expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for the remarkable developments at the NYSC Permanent Camp in Issele-Uku, praising it as one of the finest facilities in the country.
He noted that the NYSC is filled with young people, with over 15,000 corps members serving in the state and making significant contributions in areas such as education, health, agriculture, and various sectors of the state’s economy.
