Lamine Yamal’s Father: “He’s The Best In The World”

Lamine Yamal’s Father: “He’s The Best In The World”

Mounir Nasraoui, father of Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal, has voiced his disappointment after his son narrowly missed out on winning the Ballon d’Or. Speaking in the aftermath of the ceremony in Paris, Nasraoui admitted the decision left him with a sense of injustice, though he carefully avoided calling it outright “robbery.”

“I think this is the biggest… not robbery, I won’t say that, but the greatest moral harm to a human being,” he said. “Because I believe that Lamine is the best player in the world by far, by a huge margin. Not because he’s my son, but because he’s the best player in the world. I don’t think he has rivals.”

Nasraoui suggested that the outcome raised questions, describing it as “something very strange.” Despite the disappointment, he struck a note of optimism, turning his words toward the future: “Greetings to all of Spain, and next year the Ballon d’Or will be Spanish.”

The comments highlight the pride and conviction surrounding Yamal, who at just 17 has already established himself as one of football’s most electrifying young talents. His breakthrough season with Barcelona and decisive performances for Spain have seen him tipped as a generational player, with many believing the Ballon d’Or is a matter of when, not if.

Though the 2025 award went elsewhere, the sense from his father — and many fans — is that Yamal’s time will come sooner rather than later. If his trajectory continues on its current path, Spain may indeed celebrate a new Ballon d’Or winner in the near future.
