At least nine people have been killed and many injured in a series of aerial attacks by Russian forces across Ukraine, Ukrainian officials announced Sunday. The strikes targeted multiple regions including Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Odesa Oblast, Kherson Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast and the suburbs of Mykolaiv, leaving tens of thousands of residents facing power outages.
The deadliest of the attacks occurred in Dnipropetrovsk region where four people, including two children aged 11 and 14, were killed in a Russian airstrike that ignited a shop on Saturday.
In Odesa region, Russian jets reportedly bombed a number of trucks and other vehicles, killing two people and wounding three. Meanwhile in Kherson, the regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said one person was killed and two injured after drone, artillery and air attacks struck more than 20 settlements.
A ballistic missile, believed to be an Iskander‑M model with a cluster warhead, landed in the suburbs of Mykolaiv, killing a 20-year-old man and injuring 19 others, including two children.
In the frontline Zaporizhzhia region, governor Ivan Fedorov reported one civilian killed, three injured and damage to homes after strikes targeted 18 settlements. He said nearly 60,000 people were left without electricity.
The attacks also severely impacted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. National operator Ukrenergo announced scheduled rolling blackouts across the country, citing “massive Russian missile and drone attacks on energy facilities.’’
Governor Fedorov emphasised that emergency crews will repair power networks “as soon as the security situation allows.”

Ukraine meanwhile launched its own cross-border attacks. Its military intelligence claimed it struck the Koltsevoy pipeline in the Moscow region, all three fuel lines were reportedly destroyed near the Ramensky district, cutting supplies of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.
In another operation, a Ukrainian drone strike hit the Russian town of Tuapse on the Black Sea coast, reportedly damaging a tanker and an oil-terminal pier.
On the defensive side, Russia’s Ministry of Defence said its air defences intercepted 164 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 39 over the Black Sea and 26 above Crimea.
These latest attacks deepen concerns ahead of winter, as Ukraine already faces heating and electricity challenges in conflict-hit areas. Widespread outages hamper civilian life and recovery efforts.
