Abuja — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a major reshuffle in its leadership for the upcoming 2026 National Convention, replacing Governor Hope Uzodimma with former Governor Aminu Masari as the new Chairman of the Convention’s Central Coordination Committee.
Uzodimma, who was originally appointed to lead the committee, will now assume the role of Treasurer, the party confirmed on Monday. The reshuffle comes as the APC moves to streamline preparations for the national convention, widely viewed as a crucial event ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Alongside the leadership change, the committee’s membership has been expanded from 73 to 90 members, bringing in additional party leaders and stakeholders. Among the new appointees is Senator Barry Mpigi, alongside other top APC chieftains whose inclusion reflects a broader effort to accommodate regional and political balances within the party ahead of the convention.
Party insiders describe the changes as part of APC’s strategic push to ensure smoother coordination and representation across states during the preparatory phase. The Central Coordination Committee is tasked with managing logistics, overseeing the organization of delegates, and ensuring compliance with party protocols for the convention.

Masari, who previously served as Governor of Katsina State, brings extensive experience in party management and governance, which party officials say will be instrumental in guiding the committee through the complex process of organizing a national convention of this scale.
