The Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Bababode Osunkoya, has passed away, as revealed in a recent announcement by the company’s Board of Directors.
This information was officially disclosed on the night of Thursday, November 23, 2023, in a statement signed by Sunday Ekwochi, the Company Secretary of Access Holdings Plc.
According to Ekwochi’s statement, Osunkoya passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, following a short illness. He also mentioned that the board of the financial institution will soon reveal his successor.
The statement signed by the Company Secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, said, ‘Consequent upon the tragic event, the company now has a nine-member board comprising of six non-executive directors (two of whom are independent) and three executive Directors inclusive of the group chief executive officer.’
While serving as the chairman of the holdings’ board, Osunkoya oversaw a period of robust profitability, marked by key indicators consistently pointing upwards.

Osunkoya’s board memberships extend beyond Access Holdings Plc to include Richardson Oil & Gas Limited, Haggai Mortgage Bank Limited, Freedom Foundation (Nigeria), and Guiding Light Assembly. He is also an Associate Member at the Institute of Directors and holds the esteemed position of Senior Partner at Abax-Oosa Professionals.
In his professional history, Mr. Osunkoya held the position of Partner at Bababode Osunkoya & Co., Manager at Abacus Merchant Bank, and Assistant Audit Manager at HLB Z. O. Ososanya & Co.
