Lagos authorities have once again apprehended the afro music star, Ibrahim Owodunni, also recognized as Primeboy, pointing to an ongoing legal troubles for the artist.
Africa Today News, New York, reports that Primeboy and Ayobami Fisayo, popularly known as Spending, were apprehended during their visit to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba, on Tuesday morning.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Primeboy and Spending had been directed to attend the State Criminal Investigation Department on a weekly basis since the inquiry into the events surrounding the passing of singer Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, commenced.
Despite their joint visit on Tuesday, Primeboy found himself detained, while Spending, on the other hand, was released.
“Both of them had gone to register their presence at SCID this morning as they have been asked to report every week. But when they got there, Primeboy was immediately handcuffed and detained. They allowed only Spending to go after he had signed. Primeboy has been locked up as I speak,” the source disclosed.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said he was not aware of the arrest. He, however, promised to find out.
“I am not aware. Let me find out,” he said.
During its probe, the police declared Primeboy wanted on October 4, 2023, after which he turned himself in two days later.
Meanwhile, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, had filed an application in January at the coroner court sitting in the Ikorodu area of the state, seeking to call more witnesses in the bid to unravel the cause of his son’s death.
The witnesses requested to testify before the court include, Primeboy, Spending and Boluwatife Adeyemo aka Darosha; all of whom were alleged to have been with the deceased at the material time.
The demise of Mohbad at the age of 27 on September 12 stirred heated debates on social media platforms, as questions surrounding the events leading to his death emerged. Formerly under the wing of Naira Marley’s Marlian Music, Mohbad bid farewell to the label in February 2022.

In response to the event, on September 18, 2023, the State Police Command convened a specialized team comprising 13 members to conduct a thorough investigation into the death. Furthermore, the incident led to the arrest of Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, alias Sam Larry, alongside several others.
The body of Mohbad was on September 21, 2023, exhumed for autopsy to unravel the cause of his death. Hundeyin had tweeted in September 2023 that an “autopsy has been concluded” and the police were “awaiting result.”
In November 2023, Aloba made it clear that no one should proceed with the burial of his son without obtaining his explicit permission.
During an interview with journalists in December 2023, Hundeyin emphasized that the police command was still awaiting the report of Mohbad’s autopsy from the pathologists.
