Death is a leveler, It changes everything.
One day you are here, full of life, very present and bubbling with energy and vigor, the next day you are plain history…
You are addressed immediately as “was here”
Kobe Bryant became an iconic figure for me at a particular point in time. Those days we hid in Dad’s room to watch television because as a home fellowship cell center and a worker in Deeper life it was contraband, you hide your television from the glare of everyone.
Siverbird Television owned by #BenBruce always showed Lakers Nation as they made a mess of any rivalry. Kobe was usually the GOAT with the three pointers and how he changed games effortlessly with a touch of class and style.
After cartoon Network show, it was basketball time. I started playing the game back in secondary school at the time because of the succinct love from watching Lakers. Kobe was the soft inspiration. The young man can fly beasting pass buffier, heavier rivals. With mad three pointers and a shine in his yellow jersey!
A “Christiano Ronaldo” of Basketball.
I mean, that was the first time I made sense of what we call “jump power” -Aside MichaelJordan, there was no one close to his prowess by my own evaluation standard. His energy was always positive and as we mourn a soul who did his best to give back to humanity in all ramifications of the word.
Bryant was one of the all-time great NBA players, known for his dedication and work ethic.
He will be remembered for his family values and charity work as much as his sporting prowess.
Kobe Bryant tragically died on Sunday in a helicopter crash about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. His 13-year-old daughter Gianna was also killed in the crash, along with 8 other people. He was 41 years old.
Bryant will be remembered as one of the NBA’s greatest players. In addition to his prowess on the sporting field, he was known for his incredible determination and charity work in service of others.
We must remain thoughtful and sober. Life is fleeting and ephemeral. I leave you with this short clip from his time on earth. His loss is a major blow to humanity.
