The Nigerian Police has on Saturday in Abuja dismissed some of the reports which had been held in some sections of the media that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had been actually saturated with some explosive bombs.
A statement which had been put out by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi had revealed that the report had been fake and also urged Nigerians to disregard it.

“It is surprising and disheartening to read in the news and on social media that bombs are being planted in every area of the FCT.
“It is unfortunate that the report is even coming from some individuals who are presumed to be peace ambassadors and patriotic agents of national unity.
“I don’t think it will do our country any good to continually spread such fearful rumours to further create more panic to citizens and residents of the FCT and Nigeria at large,” he said.
According to him, the FCT was actually safe and there is no imminent threat, neither is the FCT being saturated with bombs as speculated in the news and he had therefore, urged FCT residents and Nigerians at large to disregard the news as fake.
In another report, the government of the United Kingdom (UK), has updated its terrorism alert to citizens in Nigeria warning of potential attacks by terrorists.
The UK cautioned of an increased threat of terrorist attacks in the federal capital territory (FCT).
UK citizens were advised to stay alert, “consider movements carefully, follow the local news and the advice of security authorities”.
The foreign travel advisory cautioned against visits to markets, shopping malls, hotels, bars, restaurants, football viewing centres, displacement camps, transport terminals (including train networks), government buildings — and schools.
Meanwhile, the British High Commission in Abuja has said only critical staff will be allowed access to its facility on Monday, October 24.
