Africa Today News, New York recalls that in recent years, the Nigerian football team has had an influx of impeccable young talents, and some of those are currently flying the flag of the country high outside of her shores with consistent blazing performances.

Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappè, Bruno Fernandes, Vinicius Junior, Pedri and Julian Alvarez added massively to their National football team’s market worth. With the Super Eagles ranking just below the Netherlands in tenth place and the squad having arguably the best-ever Nigerian players at a time like this, Nigerian football fans are hoping the talents will be properly harnessed to bring the glory days. The country narrowly missed out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but have already adopted a ‘Let’s do it again motto’ ahead of their AFCON 2024 campaign in Ivory Coast.

Portuguese manager, Jose Santos Peseiro believes his team can go all the way to win the continental trophy if his players are willing to give what it takes, but he still faces headaches concerning his goalkeeping department.

Recall that a fortnight ago, Saudi Arabia managed to salvage a losing situation with a 2-2 draw against the Super Eagles in a friendly match, courtesy of a late goal.

After Nigeria’s initial setback, Kelechi Iheanacho’s entrance as a substitute shifted the momentum, only to be shut off by a late free-kick from the Saudis, leaving the match with a draw.

The Super Eagles’ hopes were raised by the Leicester City forward’s 81st-minute goal against the Middle East side in Portugal, but Nigeria ultimately couldn’t clinch the victory.
