Over 900 Africans have been killed by COVID-19 as it bites harder on the continent, the Africa CDC said.
Confirmed cases reached 17,247 and death toll is now 910 as at Thursday. .
According the Africa CDC, the most severely affected African countries are South Africa with 2,506 confirmed cases and Egypt with 2,505 cases.
Others are Algeria with 2,160 cases, as well as Morocco with 2,024 cases.
The agency said that some 3,546 people who have been infected with the COVID-19 have recovered.
Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action on Thursday reported 21 more confirmed cases, bringing the total to 335.
The Cape Verdean Ministry of Health reported 45 new cases on the island of Boa Vista.
The national total is now 56 in the archipelago.
Mali also reported 23 new infections,
The total number of confirmed cases has risen 171.
While Nigeria’s confirmed cases rose to 407 on Wednesday, Ghana’s cases climbed to 641.
The country has so far tested 50,719 people as health workers move aggressively to get many contacts tested.
