FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays

The Federal Government has said that Nigerians are not adhering to the recently released guidelines for the easing of lockdown.

The government also noted that the easing of the lockdown has really increased the number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 made this known at its daily press briefing on Thursday, adding that “States with the most number of cases are struggling to keep up.”

The Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Chilwe Ihekweazu added,, “There are people behind those numbers of COVID-19 cases.

“Easing the lockdown could increase the number of COVID-19 cases and we are seeing that.”Adding to that, the National Coordinator of the PTF, Sani Aliyu, said, “It is clear that the public is not adhering to COVID-19 guidelines and it is shown in their behaviours ”

He warned that “We must not make it easy for the virus to spread.”
