Why Breaking Up Nigeria Won't Be Easy - Abdulsalami

Former Nigerian military leader, Abdulsalami Abubakar, has explained why he feels those agitating for succession will not succeed.

According to Abubakar the level of inter-ethnic relationships and marriages among Nigerians would make it impossible for succession to succeed.

The former dictator spoke at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Legacy Dialogue 2021 which was attended by Africa Today News on Thursday.

The former Nigerian ruler urged Nigerians to embrace their diversity and work towards maintaining unity.

‘Even if you break Nigeria now, what are you going to do? When everybody, every Nigerian, anywhere you go in the village, you will find a Hausa man, a Yoruba man, an Igbo man, Itsekiri, and so on and so forth.

‘So, let us expose them to the authorities and let us put our hands on deck to tackle the security challenges.’
