Merciless Manchester City Crush Sporting In Portugal

Premier league leaders, Manchester City yesterday secured one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals, after crushing Sporting CP 5-0 in Portugal in the round of 16 game.

Riyad Mahrez put the visitors ahead with only seven minutes played, but he is flagged for offside. However, following a controversial VAR check, the goal was awarded.

Barely ten minutes after that goal, City made it 2-0 from the corner kick. Rodri flicked the ball on with his head to Bernardo Silva, who made no mistake and fired the ball into the back of the net.

It was 4-0 for the visitors on 44 minutes. Raheem Sterling played the ball to Bernardo Silva, whose deflected shot from inside the box went past the helpless Antonio Adan.
Raheem Sterling scored City’s fifth goal, latching on to a pass and unleashed a perfect strike from the edge of the box that went into the top right corner of the goal and past the goalkeeper.

In the other game of the night, French giants, PSG managed a narrow 1-nill victory over Spanish leaders, Real Madrid. Africa Today News, New York gathered that former Barcelona hit man, Messi missed a penalty in the game in which PSG struggled to break down the Bernabéu side.
