2023 Presidency Umahi Pays ₦100m, Picks APC Nomination Form

As the race to the 2023 primary elections of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) rages on, the Governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman of the South East Governors Forum on Thursday announced that he has purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination form to vie for the Presidential slot of the party.

Africa Today News, New York report that the form, which was is being sold out by the ruling party for the whooping sum of ₦100 million, was purchased by the Governor on Thursday in Abuja.

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello was among the first presidential aspirants to have purchased the APC form since the party commenced selling to interested members.

Francis Nwaze, spokesman of Governor Umahi, who disclosed the development in a post on his official Facebook page, claimed that his boss is more capable than other presidential aspirants.

He said, ‘The Governor of Ebonyi State, and All Progressives Congress Presidential Aspirant Engr David Umahi, has purchased his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

‘Nigerians, the time is now. Let all hands be on deck to ensure that Governor David Umahi gets the APC ticket. He is the man that the cap fits and he has ticked all positive boxes right.’

Africa Today News, New York reports that this development was coming less than 24 hours after his tribesman and current Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, declared his interest to run for presidency in the 2023 general elections.

Nwajiuba made his own declaration on Wednesday in Abuja shortly after receiving the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A coalition of youths across the country under the aegis of Project Nigeria Group purchased the forms for the minister – a week after the ruling party announced that its nomination and expression of interest forms cost N100 million.

While receiving the forms from the group, Nwajiuba pointed out that his decision to run for the presidency was in recognition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s performance in the last seven years.
