How APC Sabotaged Atiku In 2019 – PDP BoT Chair, Jibrin
Walid Jibrin

The Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Walid Jibrin, has asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) sabotaged its candidate, Atiku Abubakar during the 2019 election, vowing that it wouldn’t be allowed to repeat itself in 2023.

In a statement on Monday which was obtained by Africa Today News, New York, Jibrin claimed that it was the sabotage that paved the way for Muhammadu Buhari of the Progressives Congress (APC) to emerge ‘winner’.

Jibrin said the former Vice President’s victory at the PDP convention has presented Nigerians an opportunity to install a government for all.

‘We must remember that Atiku was in 2019 elected at the PDP presidential primary in Port-Harcourt, but was nakedly sabotaged by APC.’

Jibrin told Nigerians to remember “the good performance” of Atiku as ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s deputy.

The PDP leader insists the flagbearer is the best man to lead the country because “he’s not a tribalist”.

Jibrin further hailed the delegates, party members and urged them to work for a successful outing next year.

Meanwhile, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo political organisation, Chuks Ibegbu has lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, accusing them of betraying the Igbos following Atiku’s emergence as the candidate of the party.

Ibegbu made the remark while reacting to the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as PDP presidential candidate.

Speaking with reporters, Ibegbu pointed out that the PDP went contrary to the nation’s mood by picking Atiku as its presidential flag bearer.

He, however, said the Igbos should not rely on political parties but on individuals if the Southeast must achieve its goal of producing Nigeria’s president.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the primary of the APC would be coming up later this week.
