Fleeing Igangan Killer Herdsmen Relocate To Ogun, Kill 3 In Imeko

It was a gory spectacle as some alleged herdsmen on Monday afternoon killed two farmers at Ikyungwa Tombo Ward, near the Ayilamo community of the Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Confirming the killing, the Chairman of the local government area, Agber Terse, who gave the names of the deceased as; Bem Uhembe and Mungwa Zuzu, said the deceased were returning from their farm around 5.00 pm on Monday when they were attacked by herders, adding that their corpse has been deposited at Ayilamo mortuary.

He said the deceased were all from Tse Ibor village, just as he alleged that the settlement was taken over by suspected herders.

Agber blamed militant herders for the killing of the duo occasioned by the consistent invasion of Tombo ward, a farming settlement, which had been under sustained attacks by gunmen suspected to be herders since 2016.

When Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP, Catherine Anene, did not pick up her calls for comment.

This is coming after the aftermath of the deadly attack when some killer herdsmen on Sunday breached security at a parish in Owo, Ondo, leaving at least 28 dead.

The attackers entered St Francis Xavier Catholic Church as service got underway on Sunday morning at the main community parish, an official said, firing live rounds on congregants before detonating explosives already planted in the church.

The attackers were identified by locals as being members of the ethnic Fulani stock, and a lawmaker said the tragic incident was orchestrated to send a message to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

“Fulani herdsmen entered our community and started shooting, they killed about 28 people and dozens were severely injured,” Olayemi Adeyemi, a member of Ondo House of Assembly representing the constituency.
