Insecurity Gunmen Abduct Another DPO In Kaduna

Less than a week after a DPO was abducted in Nassarawa State, a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State was on Monday abducted by gunmen suspected bandits terrorising the area.

Africa Today News, New York gathered that the incident occurred early hours on Monday when the criminal elements operated in the area along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.

The DPO, who was recently posted to the area, was reportedly on his way to Birnin Gwari to report at his duty post‎ when he was abducted.

When contacted by reporters, Mohammed Jalinge, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, stated that he would inquire and revert.

This is coming barely four days after bandits abducted a DPO in Nasarawa State and demanded N5 million ransom

Meanwhile, in a reaction to the rising spate of insecurity and killings in Kaduna State of recent, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State chapter, have expressed their displeasure at the rate of killings within the last three weeks.

Rev. John Joseph Hayab, chairman, CAN Kaduna State in a statement which was made available to Africa Today News, New York said, ‘The killings are too much and the lack of concern by the government is disappointing and disgraceful’.

The statement also added that the bandits and terrorists were now so hardened and brutal, adding that they killed Nigerians without mercy and the rate at which they have turned on the Church in Kaduna State and Nigeria was alarming.

‘The bandits are now hardened and brutal. They are killing without mercy and the rate at which they have turned on the Church in Kaduna State and Nigeria is alarming and worrisome,‘ the statement lamented.

Hayab observed that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had cried, complained, and protested but to a deaf government that allowed its citizens to go through unimaginable hardships in the hands of the terrorists. He also further lamented that the bandits know and understand that government would only talk but cannot act or cause them any threat, saying that that was why they (terrorists) were advancing more against the people.
