Fayemi I'll Resolve All Issues Before Leaving Office - Gov Fayemi

The outgoing Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has openly promised to make sure that he addresses all the demands of some of the workers in Ekiti state before he leaves office.

Fayemi had made this statement in Ado-Ekiti when the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti State Chapter had paid a visit to him. The governor is expected to hand over the baton of leadership to the Governor-Elect, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, on Oct. 16.

According to Fayemi, his administration would definitely resolve the pending issues of deductions and promotion arrears in the state public service before wounding up.

Fayemi also promised to look into the issue of minimum wage adjustment for workers in Grade Level 14 and above.

”We shall as well look into the payment of promotion arrears for 2019 and 2020,” he said.

He said that the difficult economic situation in the state was a result of the global economic downturn.

”It is not just our state, it is everywhere but we have continued to keep to our promise not to owe workers’ salaries.

“We shall continue to do our best to address issues regarding workers’ welfare and wellbeing. We shall sustain our ₦100 million monthly commitment for payment of gratuities to pensioners” he added.

However, he urged labour leaders in the state to sustain the existing industrial harmony between the government and workers.

In another report, it has been revealed that Governor Kayode Fayemi has terminated the appointment of some of his political aides in a bid to rejig his cabinet.

This mass sacking action which was in consonant with the Ekiti state’s transition law, was also to done to ensure the payments of entitlements of political office holders and their terminal benefits.

A memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Foluso Daramola, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend, had announced that the Ekiti State Governor, Fayemi had approved the termination of their appointment with effect from 31st July 2022.
