My Administration Will Prove People Wrong – Oyebanji Boasts

Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji who is the Governor-elect of Ekiti State has come out to reiterate his campaign promise which he had made to the workers in the state when he assumes office as Governor.

Oyebanji had also made this statement during his visit to the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ekiti State Council where he had gone to appreciate the support of workers during the election.

He had also equally promised to be as responsive and responsible as he can while also asked the workers to criticise him constructively whenever he is wrong.

Responding, Comrade Kolapo Joshua Olatunde who is the NLC Chairman, Ekiti State Council had also congratulated the Governor-elect, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and the Deputy Governor-elect, Monisade Christiana Afuye on their victory in the election to Ekiti State highest offices.”

He said “You set an astounding paradigm for everyone in Ekiti State by starting your political career from the grassroots to the uppermost positions. Your combination is undeniably an epitome of a trailblazer.”

“We candidly wish you landmark achievements and triumphant tenure in the discharge of your executive duties.

Olatunde urged the Governor-elect to assist in the reinstatement of fifteen staff of the Ekiti State House of Assembly who were sacked a few years ago.

In another report, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof Kayode Adebowale, and the Vice Chancellor, the University of Ibadan, who announced the results said, “Oyebanji, having scored the highest number of votes is declared the winner and returned elected as the governor-elect of Ekiti State”

The APC scored 187,057 votes to defeat its closest rival, the SDP, which garnered 82,211 votes, the PDP, which got 67,457 votes and 13 other parties which participated in Saturday’s governorship election.

Out of the 360,753 votes cast, the total valid votes in the election were 351,865.

While the agent of SDP, Owoseeni Ajayi, did not sign the forms for the votes cast, the agent of the ADP, said, “Instead of having polling centres, what we have in Ekiti are vote-buying centres”.
