Verification Date Not Fixed: Military Pension Board

The Military Pensions Board’s authorities have warned retired ex-soldiers and military retirees not to believe false information spreading on social media that the MPB will begin verifying retired soldiers and officers on November 26, 2022.

The Pensions Board observed that, in the course of preparing for verification in 2017, the allegedly accurate material was taken from a media outlet’s website and published five years prior.

The Board stated that it will adequately notify all military pensioners of the date and time when all preparations for the exercise are finished, while noting that it is working toward conducting a verification exercise of military pensioners on its payroll.

The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has been alerted to a news item in one of our national dailies and in the social media informing military retirees and the general public of the start of a verification exercise from November 26 to December 9 for military retirees, according to a statement by Flight Lieutenant Abdullahi Gambo, Public Relations Officer.

“The MPB wants to let our valued retirees know that the information is false. We hereby advise all military pensioners to ignore this information.

For the purpose of clarity, the MPB would like to clarify that the allegedly true tale was taken from a popular newspaper’s website and originally appeared five years ago, when the 2017 verification exercise was being planned.

“Even if the Board is working to verify the military pensioners on its payroll, it will properly notify the military pensioners of the date and time when all preparations for the exercise are finished.

In light of this, we kindly ask our distinguished military retirees to practise patience and calm.

Last but not least, it is suggested that all military pensioners constantly rely on the Board’s established official channels for information.

Pensioners can contact the Board by phone at (908) 744-7782 or (908) 779-4694, or by email at info@mpb.ng, to confirm any matter that interests them.
