Amusan Rewarded With ₦5m, House By Governor Abiodun

World record holder, Oluwatobiloba Amusan has been rewarded with the donation of a house as well as ₦5m by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun over her recent exploits at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. 

Africa Today News, New York reports that Amusan was also appointed a Youth Ambassador in Ogun State.

“I announced her (Amusan ) appointment as Youth Ambassador in Ogun State and a donation of a house, as well as five million Naira in recognition of her world records and other stellar achievements,” the governor wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Nigeria’s queen of the track who made Nigeria proud recently, an indigene of the state made history at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America in June by claiming gold medal in the 100m hurdles.

The 25-year-old was the first Nigerian athlete to achieve the feat.

Amusan scorched to a 12.12s world record at the semi-final stage of the World Athletics Championships.

She was crowned world champion in the final a day later.

The dark-skinned athlete is the reigning African, Commonwealth and World 100m hurdles champion.

She also made histriy as she clinched the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the Diamond League in Zurich shortly after.

She finished 12.29 seconds to defend her Diamond League title. Tia Jones from the US trailed her after coming in 12.40s while Jamaica’s Britany Anderson ended third.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the Nigerian had last year also won the Diamond League trophy in 12.42 seconds. She also set an African record.

‘12.29! ” the Diamond League wrote. ‘Tobi Amusan defends her #DiamondLeague title with a new meeting record in the women’s 100m hurdles!’

During the semi-final of the event, Amusan clocked 12.12 seconds to smash the world record at Hayward Field.
