Why I Refused To Anoint Anyone Before APC Primaries – Buhari
President Muhammdu Buhari

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has opened up on why he did not end up endorsing any presidential candidate ahead of others during the presidential primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President said he had gathered from past experience as he failed to become the country’s leader three times until the fourth attempt through a democratic process.

Buhari pointed out that his refusal to anoint any candidate was hinged on how he ‘contested the presidential election three times and ended up at the Supreme Court without success, only to succeed the fourth time through a democratic process.’

The President spoke in Lafia during the 2023 Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial lecture organised by the Nasarawa State government in partnership with Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.

He was represented by his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, urging the Nigerian populace to accept the outcome of the 2023 election.

He also appealed to the disgruntled candidates to seek redress in court.

He said Ahmadu Bello was committed to the unity, peace, and progress of Nigeria and stood for it till his death.

The President implored Nigerians to embrace his selfless service and the legacies he left behind.

Meanwhile, Buba Galadima who is the chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has responded to a recent claim by Femi Adesina who is a spokesperson to President Muhammadu Buhari that his principal would left Nigeria better than he met it in 2015 in terms of security and the economy.

Adesina had, in a statement on Sunday, claimed Buhari would not be leaving Nigeria the way he met it.

Adesina has described his administration’s ‘achievement’ as ‘a collector’s item’.

‘Those who are objective, taking a dispassionate look at this fact sheet, would admit that President Buhari came, and served meritoriously. As he had promised many times, he would not be leaving Nigeria the way he met it,’ part of his statement read.

Reacting, Galadima prayed for God to visit Adesina with what the common people suffer daily in Nigeria.
