10 Dead In Kwara Road Accident, FRSC Says

The Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Kwara Sector Command has announced that a devastating accident took place on Thursday night at the Ile Pupa area on Jebba-Bode Saadu Expressway, with the unfortunate death toll reaching 10 individuals.

The Sector Commander, Mr. Frederick Ogidan, of the Kwara Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, issued a statement in Ilorin, revealing this information. The statement was later shared with the press on Friday.

In the statement issued, the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. and was attributed to the drivers’ negligence in terms of wrong overtaking and violating speed regulations.

The statement elaborated that a total of 17 individuals were involved in the incident, comprising 12 adult males, two adult females, one male child, and two female children.

The statement provided additional information that the accident involved three vehicles. Regrettably, the crash resulted in the unfortunate demise of seven adult males, one adult female, and two female children.

The statement further identified the three vehicles involved in the incident, which are a petroleum tanker, a Toyota Corolla car with the registration number GWA22DD, and a Volkswagen Sharon bus with the registration number AKD733FX.

Further details in the statement confirmed that the petrol tanker involved in the incident was owned by DANMARNA Petroleum Ltd and described as a white Gallop Commercial JAC.

According to Ogidan’s disclosure, a cash amount of N60,750 was retrieved from the site of the crash.

Ogidan reported that the survivors of the crash sustained injuries, including bruises and cuts, with varying degrees of severity.

He assured that the injured individuals were given priority and swiftly transferred to a nearby hospital for the required medical treatment.

Additionally, he stated that the bodies of the deceased individuals were appropriately deposited at the mortuary of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) for proper management and handling.
