'Before I Turn Sour' Davido Hints On Retirement Plans

Famous Nigerian afrobeat musician, Davido has shared interesting hints on his plans for retirement from music in the ever competitive industry. 

The singer made the revelation in a video of his interview shared on Instagram by popular blogger, Tunde Ednut which was obtained by Africa Today News, New York.

Speaking about his greatest fear in his career, Davido stated that he does not want to get to a phase when people no longer go wild for his music.

While noting that everybody goes through different phases in their career, he vowed to retire from the music industry before he turns sour.

He said, ‘The only thing I’m really scared of is that moment when people cry and go crazy when I get on stage. But it’s going to get to a point where it’s going to start slowing down in my career, everybody goes through it.

‘I never want to get there. I’m gonna retire before I turn sour.’

In the meantime, Davido has sympathised with his colleague Ayo Balogun fondly known as Wizkid following the death of his mother.

Africa Today News, New York had earlier reported that the singer’s mother, Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun died around 1:30 am on Friday. Wizkid’s long-serving manager, Sunday Are, confirmed the tragic news on Friday evening.

He said: “Yes, she died this morning, about 1:30 am.” The late Balogun is the mother to two other children; Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun.

Davido while commiserating with his colleague took to his X account with the words, “Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo sadness flies away on the wings of time.”

The FIA singer has also lost his mother when he was about 10 to 11 years old. His mother died on Davido’s father’s birthday. She died of cardiac arrest.
