Wolves Exploring Erik Ten Hag As Next Manager

Wolves Exploring Erik Ten Hag As Next Manager

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly exploring the possibility of appointing former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag as their next head coach, following the club’s decision to part ways with current manager Vítor Pereira. Reports indicate that Ten Hag is among the front-runners for the role as Wolves look to turn around a troubled start to their 2025-26 campaign.

The club’s leadership made the decision to seek new leadership after a dismal run of results left them winless in the first ten league games, culminating in Pereira’s dismissal. With the managerial vacancy now open, Ten Hag has emerged as a strong contender alongside other names such as Brendan Rodgers.

Ten Hag’s availability follows a short and difficult spell at Bayer Leverkusen and his earlier exit from Manchester United, rendering him a realistic option for the Midlands club’s project. His reputation for tactical structure and experience managing in the Premier League appears to align with Wolves’ immediate needs.

As things stand, no formal appointment has been made, and negotiations are expected to involve discussions over contract length, compensation and support from the club for squad rebuilding. Wolves’ executive chairman has indicated that the club is prioritising “a manager who can stabilise the team and lay foundations for the future.”

Should Ten Hag be appointed, it would mark a bold move by Wolves — selecting a high-profile coach with strong credentials albeit tempered by recent setbacks. The coming days are likely to be decisive as the club aims to conclude the process swiftly and refocus on climbing the Premier League table.
