NBA Ikeja Announces Inauguration Of 2022 Annual Law Week

The Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has on Friday, announced the commencement of its 2022 annual law week while inagurating the programme with the theme: “2023, looking backwards to move forward.”

The alternate chairman of the NBA committee, Mr Ayodeji Olabiwonnu, made this known at a press briefing in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Olabiwonnu, who spoke on behalf of the chairman of the committee, Mr Chukwudi Enebeli, told newsmen that the annual law week would begin from June 10 to 17 at No. 122 Joel Ogunaike St., Lagos Marriott Hotel, GRA, Ikeja.

Announcing the schedule of activities, Olabiwonnu said a jumat service would take place after the press briefing, while a thanksgiving service would take place on Sunday at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, GRA, Ikeja.

“We have prepared various activities in celebration of the legal week. An opening cocktail which is sponsored by Pinheiro will take place at the Bar Centre on Monday at 4.00 p.m.

“Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) of Ondo State, Mr Y.C. Maikyau, (SAN) and Mr Femi Falana (SAN) will be speaking on the topic ‘Democratic Nigeria: Has Our lives Really Changed’ on Tuesday at 9. 00 a.m.

“Mrs Funke Adekoya (SAN), Mr Tunde Busari (SAN) and Mr Layi Babatunde (SAN) will speak on ‘Arbitration clauses and the role of our courts: The need for judicial intervention’ at 12. 30 p.m,” said Olabiwonnu.

He said the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, the Lagos State Attorney-General and commissioner for Justice, Justice Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), and others would be speaking on ‘The Bar and Bench: A relationship that should never die’ on Wednesday at 2. 30 p.m.

He added that a variety night would take place at 6. 00 p.m. at the Bar Centre in Ikeja.

“Justice I.T. Muhammed, (CFR), (OFR), Mr Wole Olanipekun (SAN) (OFR) and Mr Yemi Candide-Johnson (SAN) will take up Alao Aka Bashorun Memorial Lecture ‘The allegation of corruption in the legal profession: Who to blame’ on Thursday at 9.00 a.m.

“Mr Seni Adio (SAN), Mr Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Mr Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and Mr Faruq Abass are to speak on ‘ Opportunities for young lawyers in law: bridging the gap,’ on Friday at 9. 00 a.m,” he said.

Olabiwonnu said a dinner party would take place thereafter on Friday at 6.00 p.m. in honour of Dr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN).
