FG Is Being Complacent On Security Matters - Gov Matawalle

Honourable Bello Mohammed Matawalle who is the Governor of Zamfara State, has openly declared next week as a work-free week which would be able to enable the State’s public and civil servants to go to their respective localities and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, (PVC). The work days would be ranging from Monday to Friday, (June 20th to 24th, 2022).

The State Governor had given a directive to all the commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, other public office holders, party officials and traditional rulers to make sure that they monitor and supervise the ongoing Voter Registration exercise.

Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara who is the State’s commissioner for information revealed this in a  press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital.

According to the statement, every person above the age of 18 is expected to be part of the exercise, saying that it was their constitutional right to elect their leaders. Governor Matawalle has also made open appeals to the general public to participate in the exercise so that they would not complain later.

The Governor has also charged this year’s intending pilgrims from Zamfara State to pray fervently for the restoration of peace and tranquility in all parts of the State and Nigeria while in Saudi Arabia for their Hajj session.

He had given the charge on Friday night while he bade farewell to 1,303 intending pilgrims from the state who will perform this year’s Hajj in the Holy land of Saudi Arabia.

Matawalle said Zamfara State needed prayers against the menace of insecurity bedeviling the state.

He said that there was the need for the intending pilgrims to pray for peace to return in all parts of the state. The governor also called on the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and respect constituted authorities of both Nigeria and the host country of Saudi Arabia while in the holy land.
