Osakwe-Hibbert Dedicates Award To UK's Police Officer RaniCllr.Celia Osakwe-Hibbert, Erstwhile Mayor of Wolverhampton, Phil Page and Chief Superintendent of Police, Rani Kaur Gundhu

The Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Cllr Osakwe-Hibbert was a recent recipient of an excellence award which was bestowed on her by the former Commissioner of Police in Imo State AIG Isaac O. Akinmoyede who has been redeployed to Zone 17, Akure, Ondo State, after his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

The award had been bestowed on her due to her excellent working spirit and her diligence while working with the Imo State Government as a Special Adviser. She was also lauded for using her office to pave a way for other women in politics.

While celebrating her award which was well-merited, she dedicated it to her friend and colleague in the British Government and the Wolverhampton District, Police Constable Rani Kaur Gunduh who is now a Chief Superintendent of Police.

PC Rani Kaur Gundhu joined West Midlands Police in 1980 and as a very decorated Police officer, she is also a proud recipient of the Queens Police Medal. During her four decades in uniform, she has policed neighbourhoods across Wolverhampton and is currently involved in business crime prevention. She is a champion for diversity and women in leadership roles within her force. She is also the only Asian female officer to have ever attained such a long service with the West Midlands Police.

Hon. Cllr Osakwe-Hibbert who is also a serving councillor in Penn Ward, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom has been a long acquaintance of PC Rani Kaur Gundhu appreciated her efforts in representing the British Police with such a sterling performance. She also quoted that as females in male-dominated occupations, they both have a lot of things in common which has been the driving force of their friendship and their collaboration.

In her words:

‘I am very appreciative of this goodwill, excellence award that AIG Isaac O. Akinmoyede has given to me and I am also very honoured to accept it.’

‘AIG Isaac O. Akinmoyede has been a true friend to me and a wonderful project partner. His meticulousness and his doggedness to using his office well to the betterment of his wards has also inspired me in so many ways that are too numerous to mention and for this, I thank and appreciate him.’

‘I will also like to dedicate this award to my bosom friend and colleague in the United Kingdom, PC Rani Kaur Gundhu who also deserves my commendation because she taught me the significance of donning the police uniform.’

‘I also respect her because as a female, she has done excellently well in a male-dominated profession and she has also served as a source of inspiration to other women out their eking out a career as a police officer.’

‘This award is dedicated to her and to the hardworking women out there’.
