An electrifying moment was registered at the British Grand Prix as veteran American actor Brad Pitt stood with Formula One drivers on the grid for the national anthem, capturing scenes for his upcoming sports film. Pitt enthusiastically expressed, ‘I’m having the time of my life.’
ESPN confirmed that Brad Pitt has been actively participating in his Formula One project this week at Silverstone. Notably, the project holds a special collaboration with Lewis Hamilton, the renowned seven-time world champion and current driver for Mercedes.
Joe Kosinski, known for directing ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ has taken the helm of the yet-to-be-titled film, currently in production.
Brad Pitt portrays the character of Sonny Hayes, while Damson Idris portrays Joshua Pearce in the film. Both actors joined Formula One’s 20 drivers on Sunday for the traditional pre-race national anthem, wearing race overalls that represented their fictional team, ‘APX GP.’

As mentioned in the report, Brad Pitt conducted a pre-recorded interview prior to his Grid appearance. He expressed his excitement, saying, ‘I’m a little giddy right now, I’ve got to say. It’s great to be here. Having such a laugh, time of my life.’
It was confirmed by Brad Pitt that Javier Bardem, who was present at Silverstone shooting scenes, is part of the project. Pitt also shared the fundamental plot of the film.
Pitt said, ‘So [Sonny Hayes] has a horrible crash, kind of craps out and disappears and is racing in other disciplines.’
‘His friend, played by Javier Bardem, is a team owner. They’re a last-placed owner, 21, 22 on the grid. They’ve never scored a point. They have a young phenom played by Damson Idris. He brings me in as a kind of Hail Mary, and hijinks ensue.’
Throughout the quieter intervals in the Silverstone schedule this week, Brad Pitt and the film’s stunt drivers have been taking turns driving a modified F2 car, fitted with cameras, for filming purposes.
Talking about his lap in the car, Pitt said: ‘I want to say, for all the armchair experts out there. You’ve got to give us a little breathing room if you see any spinouts, or something that looks like a stall — it’s by design!’
‘Tell you what’s amazing about it. You’ll see the cameras mounted all over the car. You’ve never seen speed, you’ve never seen the G-forces like this. it’s really amazing.’
Maintaining a veil of secrecy around the production, Brad Pitt subtly hinted at what audiences can expect from the film, leaving moviegoers intrigued.
